科研寫作：a number of 與 the number of
一般來講，當談到的東西（如 days、samples、experiments 等）個數多于 1 時，通常會使用復數動詞，
例如：the days were short；the samples were dried；the experiments were repeated。
a number of 也屬同一類別，之后使用復數子句，
例如：a number of days passed 或 a number of people were present。
小心不要被詞句的不定冠詞 a 誤導，它用來表示個數多于1的東西，因此需要使用復數名詞和復數動詞。
the number of 的用法不同，之后接復數名詞與單數動詞。這是因為它指的是構成一個集或組的確切數目，強調的是精確數量，表達的不是東西數目的多或少的問題，而是確切的數目，
例如：The number of plants in each plot was 25 或 The number of participants was greater in summer than in winter。
