Instant gratification may impede collective efforts to address climate change

A recent study has shown that the need to be rewarded immediately is an obstacle in efforts to halt the effects of climate change. Using a collective-risk group experiment, the researchers found that groups cooperate less to mitigate?climate change? when the rewards lie in the future, especially if they stretch into future generations.
