當只提到一個列表里的某些項目時，可以用etc.來代表。在美式英語里，如果etc.出現在句子中間，一般來說之后會使用逗號。例如：Tennis, soccer, baseball, etc., are outdoor games.。但是，如果這個詞出現在句子結尾時，etc.的句號將作為最終的標點符號，后面不該加逗號。例如：Being outdoors, we played tennis, soccer, baseball, etc.。
